And they used to call me a shark? Print E-mail
Thursday, 18 October 2007

I was interested in knowing if you could see a temporary traffic spike at Alexa. Alexa calls itself the "web information company" and aims to rank every site on the Internet on how well it's doing traffic-wise against every other cyber-joint. It's an interesting concept but not necessarily practical according to Stan Schroeder and others.

In the case of Welcome to the Fair, I'd say that Alexa has done a pretty good job of recording traffic spikes though I have no way of knowing if their representation is accurate as to number of views.

Anyway, it's all very interesting out here on this midway they call the Internet, isn't it?

Alexa seems harmless enough and yet they just got me for $23.95. Stick around to find out how.

On the other midway, they sometimes call a very good agent a shark. If so, maybe Alexa is a killer white shark.

Or maybe I just have too much of a sense of humor but I found the fact that Alexa wanted to sell me a T-shirt that said:

0.000005%
say my site rocks

just too funny. So I marked out. Yep, look for me in my new shirt on the streets of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

In my choice of colors, of course.
