Joomla Installation 4
Wednesday, 10 January 2007

Still trying to get the basics of the old site migrated over to Joomla.

I had a bit of problem with OpenSEF today.  One category of links just would not appear.  When you clicked on them, you found yourself on the main page.

I was able to turn off OpenSEF, get the unoptimized link from my site and then create a search engine friendly URL in OpenSEF.  That solved the problem.

The one thing I hate about Joomla so far is the process to add links.  It is very laborious and, of course, this site is all about links.

Joomla Installation 3
Tuesday, 09 January 2007

Must have been Monday.  I am very busy in the 'real' world and didn't get too much figured out with the new Joomla installation.

If you are a registered user you can add links to our links page.  That was easy.  It probably spit itself out configured like that :)

I would like our users to be able to add words and definitions to our lingo page.  That is not so easy, registered or not!  I'm going to have to think about this a day or so.

I tried to make some small changes to the css (Cascading Style Sheet ) for this template.  Oops!   Parts of the page jumped to hither and yon.  Thought I knew a little about css, too.  All I can say is, I'll get to it.

Which reminds me that the favicon you're seeing belongs to Joomla.  While I really like it, it is, afterall, not ours.  Guess I'd better get to that too.

Well, such as we have it, "fer now".

Homeless Alibi Agents
Sunday, 07 January 2007

Today I saw a homeless guy down by the river.  He looked a lot like an ol' boy I used to work with in a basket store.

There are a lot fewer shows now than there were back in the day.  Those that are left seem to be getting by with fewer workers too.

Maybe the government should subsidize  the outdoor entertainment industry and a large part of the homeless problem would disappear?
