It would appear that I am rather slow at this here web design stuff.

I started a new, Joomla version, of our site over two months ago and well, this is how far we are :)

So far, I've installed a few third party components and uninstalled a couple too. I played with the CSS of the default template just a little which resulted in the rather strange page decor that we have at present :)

I wish I could tell you that I have a plan for the site but, right now, I don't. I started the website back in '02 because of having an ezine that I had a lot of fun writing but, well, I guess nobody wants to read ezines today. It was embarrassing to have a subscribe box that no one used :(

Due to circumstances I'd like to pretend I couldn't control, WelcomeToTheFair.com was offline for quite awhile. When we made it back, I thought a fresh, new site was in order to match my, nevermind, doesn't.

I chose a content management system for the new site because I had some idea that it would make it easier for our visitors to interact with us and each other. It could have been something I took back on the lot that makes me have these weird thoughts, but anyway, that isn't working out either.

So here we are. It's a good thing I've got a cat, three tax returns and a broke down car to keep me from frettin' to death over it :)

This web site is powered by Joomla and it doesn't have pages. Or so they tell me.

Well, it kind of, almost, has one. The closest thing to a straight up web page is the carny lingo one here.

Joomla does have rather nice back-end stats. Though "they" tell me "they" don't have pages, they call them "Page Impressions". But they don't actually track page views.

They track how many times a "chunk" of a page was viewed.

Because I've modified very little, when I publish this little tidbit of news, it will show up in both the news link and the blog link. It will also show up on the front page if I want it to. The lingo page is unique because it only shows up in one place.

Anyway, when I visited the back-end tonight, I noted that this new Joomla installation had reached a milestone of sorts. Our lingo page, where I attempt to recall and define all the words we used on the lot back in the day, reached 1500 "Page Impressions".
