Found in the Trash on the Lot
Sunday, 06 January 2008

When I say I found stuff on the lot worth sharing, I don't mean the real  lot. Just one of the "lots" I'm hangin' at in my "retirement".

Anyway,

"This year, both Groundhog Day and the State of the Union Address occur during the same week. It is an ironic juxtaposition of events -- one involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to a creature of little intelligence for prognostication, while the other involves a groundhog."

The little piece of paper didn't say who said that. S'pose I should look it up, it was obviously somebody smart.

What color is green for you?

The words I know, and the meanings I associate with those words, really affect my thinking, I guess.

My handle on at least a hundred forums, member sites and sultry other get rich quick, sell marketing to marketers programs out here on this midway is "stillgreen".

So much for lurking, huh?

I don't find it so odd that I use that name. I've only been out here on the cyber-midway for a few years and I'm still as green as if I'd first bailed the counter yesterday.

What I do find odd is that not once have I heard a comment such as "Ahh, still new at this, eh?"

Myself, my knee-jerk mental response the the word "green" is the thought "new".

Who's proud of you now?
Thursday, 25 October 2007

Back in the day, for a few weeks I alibied for a Mom & Pop operation that had a few joints and a couple of kid rides.

I should have said a Mom operation because the mama wore the pants in that outfit. She wore them tight too :)

Ms. Debbie was a tough lady to work for. You definitely didn't want to get loose with your stock and I don't even wanna tell you what happened when she caught an agent red-handed going south one time.

Anyway, on that show, whenever we wanted to encourage a buddy to work a mark a little stronger we'd always say "Make Mother Proud of You". It was a pretty popular phrase then that you heard in common conversation and meant just about the opposite of what we meant by saying it.

You don't hear that saying much anymore, do you?

I wonder what we'd have to say now, "Make Yourself Proud of You"?
